STF exists to empower adolescents and adults to achieve lives of dignity by triggering and driving authentic dialogue that leads to reflection, problem solving and concrete action for greater sexual, economic and environmental well being. Our Vision: A world in which young people have access to Sexual Reproductive health Services and rights and Live healthy and productive lives. STF implements activities through print, radio and face to face communication. Its programs and interventions target adolescents as its primary audience, while parents and teachers are its secondary audience. STF is highly effective in behaviour change communication models and combines mass media and face to face community outreach and mobilization programs.
Straight Talk Foundation is looking to recruit for the following position:
1. Radio Journalist – Kakwa (1 Position);  Kampala (Re-advertised)
JOB PURPOSE:
The job holder will be responsible for collecting information regarding audience issues to inform Straight Talk Foundation Radio Programs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 Manage STF’s social media.

 Collect interviews  and information regarding audience issues  to inform Straight Talk radio programs

 Share SRHR messages on social media.

 Write and translate scripts.

 Voice and edit radio programs.

 Support and form Straight Talk listening Clubs.

 Replying and responding to social media questions sent to the inbox by STF clients.

 Report writing.

 Any other duty as assigned by the line manager.
Academic Background, Experience and Person Specifications:

• A minimum of a Diploma in Mass Communication or any relevant qualifications with additional training in radio communication.

• At least One (1) year working experience in radio journalism.

• The ability to design audio communication messages.

• Ability to write and record audio scripts.

• Ability to design communications that address contemporary issues in population, health and development.

• Ability to utilize different computer packages for radio communications.  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

• Ability to apply analytical techniques for reporting communication activities.  • Knowledge of contemporary issues in community development.

• Ability to work under pressure.

• Ability to build rapport with the public with diplomacy, discretion, and customer-service orientation.
• The ability to apply principles of logical or scientific thinking to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw logical conclusions.

  • Be sensitive to cultural differences among individuals and groups of persons.

• Highly developed cultural awareness and ability to work well with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures.

• Computer literacy for radio communications and excellent documentation skills are a must.

NOTE: It is advisable that the applicants are able to speak fluent Kakwa language.
